BERTAMU: MABIANG SENI ANNUAL EXHIBITION
Just a little recap of what happened right before February and two new resident artists came to our compound, we successfully had an opening exhibition for our first anniversary as an art residency! What an achievement to celebrate, especially within all the chaos in any kind of aspects of climates, both nationally and internationally. We managed to just stay in our own bubble and created a safe environment –or a happy distraction –for creatives and general audiences to have a simple, fun, enjoyable evening.
The exhibition and our modular living room slash live music space will be open for visitations until 1st of March. Currently we are also thinking of doing a closing celebration or some sort of dinner concert to end the anniversary. We’ll keep you updated via Instagram.
Click here for our private collection catalogue of the artworks being displayed.
Giving you all the gratitude and blessings from the land of Pejeng for coming to the event and supporting us directly or/and indirectly. Our community wouldn’t be this strong and growing without you.

LAUNCHING THE NEW WEBSITE
We changed this year –more structured, more transparent, and the best of all: more creative. To be honest as the residency manager, I have my own idealisms about Mabiang Seni, especially about the first impression people will get if they found us. Yet learning how to run an art residency is not something so common for many, and I had to learn it by doing for the past year. This bullet point on my checklist about revamping the website have been mentioned so much to my assistant, Pidol, and to everyone whom ever asked, “So what have you been doing so far?”
Aside from FINALLY revamping the website on another website platform that I’m more fluent at, my team and I have been checking our list not for the sake of Santa, but for the sake of making Mabiang Seni more active and financially stable. We will be reaching our first year soon and still, we could’ve not done it if it weren’t for the resident artists.
It wouldn’t be that much of a surprise if on the 25th of this month we’ll be sharing our gratitude back to the community by holding an exhibition with a tiny pop up market and a Jazz jam. Unlike last year’s opening, we have six artists who will be opening their studios. I’ve curated artworks with the intention of making our gallery feels like a home to bertamu to: to be a guest at a living room.
Enjoy the new website, and hope to see more strangers becoming friends through Mabiang Seni, both in-residence and within the community.
